Interesting Idea: moof.com’s Registration Form

November 26th, 2009 by Gabriel Alberola in Design Trends 2 Comments

Inciting user registration is hard. That’s why I always like to discover new and original registration forms on the Web.

Moof.com, a social music sharing Website, has a registration form that is presented as a conversation where the user has to fill in the blanks. This makes it much more interesting than the usual signup form. This approach is more human, friendly and inviting. Plus, the form is right up on their homepage, which shows the user how short the registration process really is.

Unfortunately, as with a lot of innovations, moof’s registration form is not perfect. The fields don’t stand out and are a bit hard to see. Also, since they are in conversational copy, they aren’t aligned properly, which might disorient some users. Some of the fields are also a bit short (especially for the name).

Still, these shortcomings don’t ruin the approach. Moof’s target audience probably enjoys their originality. I know I do.

Thanks Matthew! I liked Geni’s registration form but recently they changed it to something more conventional. You can also visit Konigi.com and take a look at their form search results to discover plenty of interesting examples.
