The Importance of Taking a Step Back
Often times, you start a project with a vision — the big picture. You understand what’s needed and get to work. You build your product up, make it perfect, align it with objectives, data, best practices, trends and send it off to take a life of its own.

People look at it, get an understanding and where visions differ the discussion begins. Parts get changed, elements get thrown out or added to align visions, objectives and understandings.
The project started with something whole, parts were taken out, added or changed and we wind up with something completely different then what everyone was initially trying to achieve.
When people really wanted to change the shape, color or behavior of some parts, you end up with a completely different product.

It’s easy to get caught up in the process. Decisions need to be taken quickly, projects need to move forward but sometimes it’s important to take a step back, pull things apart and start over to create a better product. Parts are not always interchangeable.
A product with a focused and unified vision will always outperform a product with seemingly unrelated parts with low interrelations. Left hand and right hand must speak and this can only be achieved with clear vision.

Great insight! This is especially true when designing a website. With so many designers, developers, and programmers working on a site, it is often difficult to maintain full control over the project. Your initial vision can be compromised by designers who want to do things their own way or developers who’s code is creating problems. It is important for a dedicated project manager to continually look at the project as a whole, dictating specific changes and additions to the designer and developers that are doing the actual work.
Thanks for the feedback. Indeed, as long as at least one person is looking at the global vision there’s more chances for the project to hold up in the long run.
It’s unfortunately not always the case.

Great post. Before the start of each job is very important to perceive the whole situation seriously. Something will always go wrong. We need to be calm and to react calmly and wisely.
