Lego blocks

It’s not always the biggest features, ideas or changes that lead to the biggest results. In fact, it rarely is. Small changes allow you to limit the risk. Small ideas need less commitment and are easier to discard if they don’t work.

Break expectations, anticipate user needs, find and improve on the small things your competitors are not good at. Done right, these little things add up to create a business, product or design that shows it cares to put the extra effort in designing and planning for a great user experience. These ideas can be as simple as:

  • Writing a sincere apology email to fix a customer service issue.
  • Being proactive on Twitter in replying to complaints and questions about your product.
  • Following up with incomplete signups if you have the email address.
  • Asking for feedback, reviews or comments after transactions are completed.

Of course, not all small things lead to big results, you need to pick your battles. Aim for high visibility, high engagement or high return on investment changes. Don’t get caught up in details, the devil’s in there.

All these ideas I have but I certainly have to be active in Twitter. I hope that with the increased activity will improve my results and thank you for the advice.

Twitter is definitely useful but it takes time and effort for results to appear.
